Gaining Weight

I just realized that this will probably be the only time in Myanna's life where gaining weight is seen as a good thing. :) The doctor stopped by about an hour ago and he was happy to see that she has been feeding better and gaining weight. She must not like the feeding tube because she pulled it out early this morning. :) The plan for to today is to continue to breast feed every 3 hours and keep her on the warmer. She only had to have one tube feeding during the night. If she can go today and tonight without any more tube feedings then they will take her off the warmer tomorrow and see if she can maintain her temperature on her own. So we are looking at probably 1-2 more days in the hospital.

Please pray for:

Myanna to continue to eat well and gain weight. For her to be able to maintain her body temperature once she is off the warmer.

Me to get the rest that I need.

Johnny and Jacob to be happy and not upset that they are seperated from us.

Our finances. We were late in getting out the bill to our largest customer this month due to Myanna's birth and they have not paid yet. Pray that they will pay soon.

Thank You!

At the Hospital

Grammy noticed yesterday that Myanna felt cool so I took her temperature and it was only 95.7. Her pediatrician sent us over to Banner Thunderbird's Peds ER. We were admitted last night and will be here for at least 3 days. There is no sign of infection so the doctor feels that she is not able to keep her temperature up due to her weight. So we are working on getting her to eat better. She has a feeding tube for my breast milk and I am continuing to try to get her to eat straight from the breast. They gave her 45 cc (about 1 1/2 ounces) in the tube this afternoon and since then she has eaten twice from the breast. :)

So please pray that she is able to start maintaining her temperature on her own. Also that the rest of her tests come back negative for infections. Johnny is staying with Grammy and John has Jacob. Thank you Monica and Malinda for agreeing to watch Jacob so that John can get some work done. Please pray that my boys don't get too out of sorts being seperated and that we can settle in at home as a family of five soon.

At Home

It feels so good to be home. :) I'm so thankful to John's sister Julie who came over last night and cleaned the house for us. I'm not the greatest housekeeper in normal times, but with being on restricted activity for the last few weeks things had gotten crazy. I so did not want to come home to a messy house. Now everything is all clean including my laundry! :)

Myanna hasn't been wanting to eat very much since we've been home, so I have a feeling I'm in for a looooong night. I was able to get a nap late this afternoon thanks to Daddy.

I can't wait to get into some type of routine around here. I still haven't totally gotten used to the idea that she's actually here. I just wasn't quite ready to not be pregnant anymore.

Grammy must have fed my boys super food while they stayed with her. They are so big! And both of them are really jabbering away now. So far they still like Myanna - no jealousy fits yet. I took out their step stools and put them in front of her bassinet so they could see in. Tomorrow I'll bring out the Pack'N'Play for her to be in during the day. That way the boys can see her, but she'll be a little safer than in the bassinet.

I better get ready to feed Myanna and go to bed. Good Night!

More Myanna Pictures

Wow what a day. I think Myanna and I are finally starting to figure out this whole breast feeding thing so hopefully I will get some much needed sleep tonight. We will be leaving the hospital in the morning. John had a busy day running around buying a car seat and other baby necessities. We were so not prepared. :) My mom brought the boys to the hospital this afternoon. We got some really cute video, but I'll wait to post that when I get home and can edit it.

So that's what was in Mommy's tummy.

All warm and cozy in the nursery after birth.

Ahhh, baby feet. :)

Sorry that the pictures are not in chronological order. I'm not in the mood to fool with this lap top mouse. :)

Thanks again for all the prayers!

Welcome Baby Myanna!

Myanna Glynn made her appearance at 6:59 AM on 2/2/09 weighing 5 lbs. 15 oz. My water broke at 1PM on Superbowl Sunday, 5 weeks early. We headed over to the hospital where things were slow to progress. At 12:30 AM the medically induced contractions began with a vengeance. I began asking for my epidural shortly after 1:30 AM and at first the nurse said the doctor wanted me to be further along (I was only dilated to a 2-3), so I asked for a different doctor. :) I don't know what the nurse said to her, but at 2:00 AM I got my epidural. I slept for the next 5 hours, feeling no pain and completely numb from the waist down. Just before the 7AM shift change my nurse came in to see how I was doing. At first she wasn't going to check my dilation, but she changed her mind because when she readjusted the heart rate monitor Myanna was really low. When the nurse pulled back the sheet she saw that Myanna was crowning and told me to push the call button - I hadn't felt a thing! When I turned to push the button Myanna basically fell out onto the bed into the nurses ungloved hands. The room quickly filled up with nurses and my doctor. It was quit a shock for everyone. Myanna is in the nursery right now so that they can monitor her temperature and blood sugar levels, but they think she'll only be there for about an hour. I just got to see her on my way up to my recovery room and she looks really good. She's a little tiny, but her pediatrician says she's healthy. No need to buy preemie diapers or clothes. :) So now I am in my room just waiting for my baby.

Please praise God for a healthy baby and mom. Also, I'm a little nervous about the whole breast-feeding thing so please pray that I won't get streesed out over it.

We are at Banner Thunderbird in room 242. I would love healthy visitors (no kiddos) but please call first in case something comes up.

At the Hospital

Yep, my water broke @ 1:30 so we packed really quickly and headed over to the hospital. I still haven't had any contractions so the doctor just gave me something to get me going. I'm 35 weeks, but she should be fine. Please pray!
